Statement
For me, poster design is like solving a puzzle. I’m given pieces by the filmmaker - inspiration, intuition, information - and then I work to find out how it all fits together. It’s always a challenge, but when I hit the mark, it’s incredibly rewarding. Every so often, projects as consequential as All They Will Call You find me. This story, about the United States’ dehumanizing treatment of Mexican migrants in 1948, feels all too relevant in present-day America. Working alongside Tim Z. Hernandez and Chuck Horak, I assembled three different puzzles that interweave the identity of the Mexican deportees, Woody Guthrie’s lyrics and the symbols and illustrations inspired by his words.
